Our Department hosted 33 linguists from 24 countries for a cross-linguistic workshop

An international project meeting initiated by the Department of British and American Studies, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia, the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and the University of Granada, Spain took place from 27th to 29th of April 2017 in the educational and training facility of Pavol Jozef Šafarik University located in Danišovce. The workshop was organized thanks to the VVGS PCOV grant obtained by doc. PaedDr. Lívia Körtvélyessy, PhD. The main outputs of the project will be a network of European experts and a unique manuscript published by one of the world’s leading publishers in the fields of linguistics and communication science, Mouton de Gruyter. Altogether there were 33 participants who arrived from 24 European countries. All the participants are internationally recognized morphologists or typologists. The participants represented 28 different languages. The primary goal of the project was to unify the approach taken to derivational networks and to the way they will be evaluated by individual participants. The three days spent in the educational and training facility were not only beneficial from the point of view of the goals of the project, but also very pleasant from the point of view of interpersonal relations.
